To be accurate, Gerrard cost them the title. He then went on to cost England at the world cup by setting up both of Suarez's goal with mistakes. The Wincing Scouse had a great end of the season all round really.

I'm stating to think that Sam is indulging in mind-games this season.
Remember when he was saying that he'd only play 4-4-2 if he had the best strikers in the Premier League? Then the next game he starts with Sakho, Zarate AND Valencia.
Before that he was saying that he wasn't playing attacking football wasn't an issue this season, and it was only results that mattered. Then we played like we did in the Palace, Totts and Hull games.
Now he's highlighting the defense and KPIs ...

I wouldn't be happy if we gave it a go and lost or sat back and lost.
What I would like to see though, if we go a goal behind, is to really try and get at them, irrespective of how we set our stall out at the beginning of the game. I've no real problem if he sets us up to defend and try to nick one on the break, but I will have one if we conceed and don't try to change our play afterward.

Well last season at home Chelsea and Man City were simply a class above us on the day but the Liverpool game was a cracker and we competed really well.

Yeah, we're gonna win by sitting back and watching them attack us all game, worked wonders against everyone above us last season (except Spurs). I especially enjoyed the games against Liverpool, Man U, Man and Chelsea where it was a case of 'how many will they get?'. Yeah the 0-0 WIN at Chelsea was well balanced out by the 3-0 pasting they gave us at home.
What gets me here is that he's preparing us for going back to the 'system' - so no new players, packed midfield, 1 up front. Wonder if Carroll's back yet?

Horses for courses- if you try and play the top teams at their own game then more likely than not you'll get beat, just because they have far better players man for man.
Against Hull having a go and playing an open game was the right thing to do, but I'll be delighted if we 'do a Villa' or play '19th century football' against Liverpool if we take three points from the game.

BFS should have been more specific about how Liverpool lost the title race. Gerrard mis controlled a a Palace hoof and then slipped trying to rescue the situation. It was not the slip that did it it was the maladroit attempt to originally control the ball.
